Jake Cortez

One of five siblings born in the South Texas town of Weslaco, this Rocking-Gypsy Blues player was said to have started playing at 3 years of age.  Influenced and taught by his father’s Mexican-Folk style, Jake soon acquired a love and passion for classical music.  His father always played for fun and would bring his family together to play by passing around the guitar.  Jake studied classical, jazz, and opera in college, while his fingers were unleashing burning “licks” yearning to go out and perform for crowds.

Jake has great respect for his influences like his Dad.  Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Eagles are among a few ; however Jake has applied his own interpretation of their music into his own style.  Jake is currently residing in McAllen, TX as a full time musician, studio guitarist and private instructor.  Read More

Mario Alemán

Rumba Flamenco guitarist/composer, Mario Alemán, is currently a self managed artist performing for his indie label, innerflame PRODUCTIONS. Alemán’s musical performance is an exciting blend of intense Rumba Flamenco rhythms, seasoned with impassioned, soul-stirring melodies, and all topped with Mario’s fiery & blistering acoustic guitar work. Steady bookings, including session/studio and live performances, keep the Rio Grande Valley native very busy on the local and international music scene. In 1990, Mario took 1st place at the Art Institute of Dallas’ Guitar Wars competition and in 2001, Alemán had the honor to perform for former US President Bill Clinton. Alemán is currently promoting his most recent CD release, Soulspeak, an instrumental album in the Rumba Flamenco format which showcases Mario’s incredible talent.  Read More
